I recently had a request for an art deco style cake and was excited as Iknow very little about art deco - other than a few obvious shapes. This cake led me into the deco era, prominant artists and my subsequent facination of this area. I found so many examples I could use in cake decorating from continuous boarders, beautiful patterns to ice and the typical shapes.
I have saved many pictures to explore further as I think I could make great use of them or further develop my own designs.
I thoroughly enjoyed making what resulted in a super 2 tier art deco cake. I stuck to a limited colour template so it did not appear overly busy. Templates were made by hand each circular element was cut and created individually.
I cannot wait to do another art deco cake!
